The historical origin of zippers
Zippers first appeared in 1893 AD, at the Chicago World's Fair held in New York, USA. At that time, the zipper was invented by the American inventor Whitney T. Hicks (Whitney J. Invented by Hicks), he created a sliding buckle that can be quickly closed and opened, known as the ”Hicks Fastener" (Hicks Fastener). This buckle later evolved into a zipper in the modern sense.
The reason why zippers are widely used is mainly because they are simple, reliable, easy to operate and space-saving. Modern zippers are composed of two continuous metal or plastic teeth that bite each other. By pulling the zipper head, they bite or separate from each other, so as to achieve rapid opening and closing.
The emergence of zippers has greatly changed people's way of dressing and living habits, making clothes easier to wear, take off and protect, and has been widely welcomed and used. Nowadays, zippers have become an indispensable design element in daily life and are widely used in clothing, bags, automobiles, household goods and other fields.
